Back to my roots... Sydney! |
|
After leaving when I was eight years old, I have travelled back to Sydney to see what all the fuss is about.
A-List Entertainment invited me to perform some feature spots at three of their venues (The Old Manly Boat Shed, Blacktown R.S.L. and Hornsby Inn), and I lined up a spot at Fox Studio's Comedy Store. I had a wonderful time at all of the shows and performed with some excellent comedians that I had never met before. Harley Breen, Justin Kennedy, Sally Kimpton, and Brett Nichols are all names that you should look out for. If they are performing near you don't miss them. The highlight of the whole trip was definantly a recommendation from Justin and Harley to check out the "Mic in Hand" in Glebe. This is a fabulous little pub in a quite little street that on Thursday nights becomes Sydney most popular hang out for comedians. Harley was the host and the headline act was Michael Chamberlain from Channel Ten's "Skithouse". I was lucky enough to land a five minute spot on the night. All of the open mic spots that night went-off and if you are in Sydney, I can guarantee you will have a great night there. There is a great vibe in the room and some awesome talent on show. With huge headline acts as well, is it a great way to see some of Australia's best comedians, and future bests. Sam and Kent run the venue and after seeing my five minute spot Sam was kind enough to invite me back next time I am in Sydney... High praise from a man running a quality venue. People that actually do read this page will surely be wondering what happened to the video footage that we filmed in August. My last entry suggested it would be available in a couple of weeks. Three months later I am forced to re-assess that forecast. The video should be available in a couple of weeks... from now. |
